This is my well-liked Madonna movie and one of my common 80′s movies because it is so laughable and Madonna plays such a recent character.

Madonna plays Nikki Finn, a street-wise ex-con with white hair and a marvelous left hook.

Nikki meets up with Louden Trott (played by Griffin Dunne) who was assigned to remove her up after she was released from prison and bewitch her to the bus space. Mr. Worthington (Bibi Besch) doesn’t want Nikki anywhere approach his daughter Wendy’s (Haviland Morris) wedding to Louden because he was the one who place her up to go to the titanic house!

Nikki convinces Louden to conclude at the mall because after all her mom thinks she’s been shopping for the past four years so it wouldn’t be very nice to advance home empty handed. But Nikki has ulterior motives because she wants to “cleah my name” and demonstrate to everyone that she was place up.

It’s now a hurry to gaze if Nikki can con Louden into helping her. Along the plot they drop in savor. But Louden is an uptight boy from Scarsdale who has reservations about a kooky girl from Philly.

But, Nikki gets to Louden’s wedding and stops the preacher in mid-sentence so that she can mumble everyone that Mr. Worthington position her up. She also informs everyone that Louden is really in worship with her, and this time he has the backbone to fight for her. Wendy doesn’t mind though, she has her hot UPS driver to retain her company.

Louden and Nikki bewitch their bus high-tail together benefit to Philly as Madonna’s third ’87 hit plays, “Who’s That Girl.”

Madonna’s acting was extraordinary, and she sounded so droll and looked very sexy. But the awful thing was crucified for this record, unrightfully so.

I am waiting with baited breath until the DVD version is released. This has been one of my accepted movies for over 10 years. Now I’ll admit that this wasn’t the “best” movie ever made and lacks fair about everything that the movie critics are looking for, BUT – the movie is hilarious, has immense comedy writers, tall music and makes you feel generous! I reflect that’s how people ultimately reflect movies, how it makes you feel!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Who’s That Girl?! Click Here

So it may not have been nominated for a Golden Globe or Oscar, but if you Esteem Madonna and indulge in a simple comedy, you can’t beat Who’s That Girl!

Movie Title: The Story of Adele H.

Thirty years later it is hard to imagine “The Chronicle of Adele H” without the then twenty-year old-fashioned Isabelle Adjani as the title character. But at the time Truffaut’s decision to cast the young French theatre star was very uncertain. Not because there was any doubt about Adjani’s acting, but because casting someone who was arguably the most pleasing actress in the world as a character driven excited by unrequited fancy raised a potential credibility screech. Would viewers hold that the advances of a woman so resplendent, passionate, and incandescent were rejected? And could someone like that elicit sympathy from the average viewer.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Story of Adele H.! Click Here

But Truffaut knew what he was doing because Adjani’s Adele Hugo is 100% convincing. And rather than going for audience sympathy they go for audience frustration as the viewer is increasingly enraged over Adele’s self-destructive behavior. Adjani’s breathtaking beauty actually is an asset as Truffaut wants you convinced that the world offers unlimited possibilities for Adele if only she can let go of her obsession. Adjani plays the character with such intensity that you are finally relieved when Adele’s madness has reached the stage where she is no longer aware of her gain suffering.

Apparently Adele had other issues before going on her obsessive quest for adore. Her sister drowned a few years before and her parents had always strongly favored her sister. Adele has recurrent nightmares about drowning. Marriage and her pursuit of Pinson are her only arrangement to hurry from her renowned father. Truffaut’s stays with blacks, browns, and blues; with remarkable of each frame filled with shadows; not exactly wearisome but consistent with a character who has found microscopic non-fantasy happiness during her life.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Story of Adele H.! Click Here

The camera loves Adjani, a helpful thing as she is on veil for over 90% of the film. She was the youngest nominee ever for best actress. It was the best performance of the 1970′s, probably no one but Adjani could have conveyed such inner emotional violence. It is that extremely rare visual performance that does not need subtitles or even sound.

As Roger Ebert noted: “Truffaut finds a sure nobility in Adele. He quotes one of the passages in her diaries twice: She writes that she will chase across the ocean to be with her lover. He sees this, not as a declaration of fancy, but as a statement of a single-mindedness so total that a kind of grandeur creeps into it. Adele was inflamed, yes, probably – but she lived her life on such a mammoth and romantic scale that it’s objective as well Pinson never married her. He would have become a disappointment”.

Then again, what do I know? I’m only a child.

The descent into delusion and insanity is skillfully portrayed by Isabelle Adjani in this film that opens by stating that it is about “events that really happened, and people who really existed”.
Set mostly in Halifax, beginning in 1863, the cinematography by Nestor Almendros is blooming, with the camera lovingly capturing Adjani’s graceful face. Using a somber palette, with occasional patches of radiant red, it often has the observe of an old-fashioned painting, and the music of the early 20th century composer Maurice Jaubert fits in nicely.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Story of Adele H.! Click Here

Francois Truffaut (who 19 minutes into the film makes a brief cameo appearance) tells this chronicle with gentleness and sensitivity, keeping the walk flowing; though a rather dusky sage, it never gets either depressing or listless. It shows what started out as care for, with a resolution to bravely contaminated the ocean to be with her lover, become increasingly demented, from being a stalker, to debasing herself by her willingness to “piece”, to the destroy, which takes spot in Barbados. In the short and almost calm portion of Baa, Madame Louise is a grand and pretty presence.

Adjani won numerous awards for this 1975 film, and was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar (Louise Fletcher won for “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”) . Though the make-up is subtle and clever, it’s her stellar performance that bring believability to this film.
The historical photos and information in the final scene are intelligent, and execute for a satisfying ending to another of Truffaut’s grand films, and one I have enjoyed seeing numerous times.

Having watched this movie since I was in my early teens, I have bought the DVD published by KINO ON VIDEO, and oh my, Andrei Tarkovsky must be rolling in his grave smart what they did to his masterpiece.

For those of you who don’t disclose Russian, I feel very very very abominable for you, because of the unpleasant translation of the movie. Aside from the poems in the movie, that were previously translated by the professionals, the translation sounds as though it was done by fifth-graders. And not honest because it is done in the high-school level English. HALF of the speech is not translated at all–a lot of well-known chatter is completely missing in the subtitles. Many things are oversimplified and revealed, instead of letting the viewer dig them out him/herself. Those of you who don’t understand Russian are doomed to be tortured by such translation and never to thunder the honest beauty and meaning of the modern script. Having read all of the subtitles, I understood a lot of things in a bad procedure, different from the scheme they were intended in the first area, and had zero satisfaction from the movie. Thank [deity] I’m Russian.

The gross yellow subtitles can NOT be removed–they will stop on the mask forever while I gaze the movie and irritate and upset me with the abovementioned crimes against Art.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Mirror! Click Here

The supposedly “unlit and white” scenes, which originally had a silver-ish quality to them, and some were in sepia, are now in unimaginative B&W a la Fellini’s La Strada. I conventional to have a feeling that the bushes were made out of steel and silver, but not on this DVD.

DVD has ZERO extras, and thank [deity] they divided the movie into chapters for easy scene access, but even there they managed to screw up. Upon skipping to a chapter, the scenes do not open from the beginning, and you actually skip halfway into the characters’ speech.

For Tarkovsky movies, I would NORMALLY recommend R.U.S.C.I.C.O. editions, but not in the case of Mirror. Yes, as any R.U.S.C.I.C.O. movie, it has very sterling subtitles, in a dozen languages. But, the problems with the represent and sound are even worse in their edition, albeit better portray quality as opposed to the grainy KINO quality. R.U.S.C.I.C.O. tried extremely hard to acquire the movie more delicious, and, apparently, overdid it. The lighting does not match with the novel movie, as they try to execute every object more distinctly seen and illuminated. They increase sharpness in places where it shouldn’t retract residence, such as “hand-on-fire” image, thus depriving the illusion that the hand is on fire. Remastered sound often fails too, as many sounds are louder than others and overlap each other out of order.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Mirror! Click Here

But I digress. We have no other choice but to resolve between either KINO or R.U.S.C.I.C.O. edition of Mirror. I suggest buying both :) so that you could experience the near-proper represent quality of KINO and the friendly translation of R.U.S.C.I.C.O.

Andrei Tarkovsky’s THE MIRROR (1974) is his most personal and artistically valorous film–and to me, ultimately his most piquant.

A semi-autobiographical work, it interweaves poems, dramatic scenes, dreams and newsreels to evoke the inner symbolic world of the protagonist, his nostalgia for the past and his jumpy relationships with his wife and mother in the reveal. At the same time it is a meditation on the nature of Russia, from the nation’s role as mediator between the East and West to specific historical events such as the Stalinist purges of the mid-to-late 1930s and World War II. Indeed, few works of art say more about the Russian people with such economy.

The cinematography, by Georgii Rerberg, is so richly detailed that it frequently takes your breath away. Many of the shots are deliberately reminiscent of paintings by Breughel and Leonardo da Vinci. The soundtrack is equally pleasing, layered with natural sounds, electronic music, classical music (by composers such as Bach and Pergolesi) and poems (written and recited by the director’s father Arsenii Tarkovsky, a notorious Russian poet) .

The film undoubtedly benefits from its first-rate cast, which includes many favorite and highly respected Russian actors. The instruct of the Narrator is played by Innokenty Smoktunovsky; Margarita Terekhova plays both the Mother and the Wife. Other actors produce indelible impressions in smaller roles: Anatoly Solonitsyn (the Doctor), Oleg Yankovsky (the Father), Alla Demidova and Nikolai Grinko (the mother’s colleagues at the printing factory) . For those who yell Russian, it’s a pleasure honest to hear their finely tuned dialogue.

Although the film was widely criticized for being too difficult to follow, it was also praised by many Russian critics for capturing the spirit of an entire generation. It may not be to the taste of everyone, since it is constructed more like a poem than a dilapidated film account. However, for those who are willing to earn the leap of faith, it is uniquely rewarding.

Kino on Video’s unique DVD looks absolutely glorious. Having seen the film a number of times in various less-than-ideal incarnations on video, I was impressed at the contrivance the DVD captures the richness of the film’s cinemtography. The film is above all a sensuous experience, so every extra bit of detail in the image and sound helps add to its overall emotional impact. Kino has broken-down the same transfer for their current VHS edition, but the DVD is clearly preferable and it’s the same tag. It doesn’t have any special features, unlike Kino’s fresh release of Tarkovky’s THE SACRIFICE, which includes a making-of documentary. However, it’s hard to complain when the film itself and the video transfer are so satisfying. In summation, I can hardly recommend this particular title more highly.

I know it’s very typical for anime series to recive 5 star reviews, but i grunt you this series is warrented it. I have had the pleasure of viewing the entire series of Mr. Stain on Junk Alley and can reveal you this dvd will not dissapoint. Theese short (5 – 10 min.) episodes are very charming and feature a unique character or prop each episode that the chronicle will revolve around. There is absoulutly no diolauge in the indicate, which forces it to rely on visual, situational humor as well as it’s charming characters, which it does exceptionaly well. Also, the lack of dialoge means the humor is mostly simple, desirable fun that can be appreciated by all reguardless of age, language, or sex.

This award has won several awards already in Japan and it is easy to glance why. I couldn’t reccomend a comedy series more highly, both to anime fans as well as non-fans of the genre, and can’t wait to explore this DVD released stateside.

Mr. Stain lives in a slum called Junk Alley with his anthropomorphic cat Palvan. He isn’t a homeless person, but his living conditions are quiet unpleasant. Every episode starts with Stain rooting through a heap of garbage outside his home, and every episode he finds something fresh and magical. Also of heed is that every episode seems to centre around Mr. Stain creating life from what he finds and wrestling with the suitable implications of what he’s done.

It sounds pretentious, but it isn’t. Despite this formula, Mr. Stain is bursting with originality, and the level of style and charm it posesses sets it apart from all other animes, and all other 3D bewitching cartoons for that matter. It is comical and very, very disturbing, and I don’t doubt that everyone who’s seen those bonus Mr. Stain episodes on the other FUNimation discs has already gone out and ordered a copy of the entire series.

Highly reccommended.

First off let me say that I am a devoted Star Jog fan, but not a die hard trecker. I don’t believe a Star Lope encyclopedia, never went to an event, don’t enlighten klingon, and don’t maintain a uniform. But I grew up watching the recent series in reruns (TOS) . I was so curved, I never missed a single episode if I could somehow relieve it, reach hell or high water. I also loved the motion pictures with the unusual cast. But they lost me with TNG (the next generation) . I really tried to like it, but never came to care for the characters. Enter the Borgs and I was so disgusted that at that point I jumped ship. Everything produced after TNG went straight over my head. From what I learned, I am not the only one.

I watched this modern movie three times. Then I spent a lot of time online reading reviews and opinions. I carefully read all the the complains, the criticism. And I can’t serve but agree. Does this movie carry a message? Other than the hint about water boarding, probably not. Is it about smooth exploration? No! Does it suffer from ADHD? Is it too hastily paced, is there too worthy action and violence packed in a obsolete memoir line, does it have tall set holes? Is the Kirk character a shrimp over the edge? Does Spock act out of character? Does the whole time disappear and alternative universe business stink somewhat? Yes, guilty on all charges. Did I care for this thing between Spock and Uhura? Nay…

Is this Star Swagger after all??? Yes, it is!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Star Trek! Click Here

I loved the movie. In fact, I weeped with joy. This movie makes me feel like being reunited with dear long lost friends that were left gradual for uninteresting. Not to mention the fact that it beamed me fair wait on into my childhood.

The key figures of the cast are terrific! Time for a gargantuan bellow of relief: Zacchary Quinto was dwelling on, which is well-known for many folks including me who feel that Spock is the character that makes Star Straggle truly special. Chris Pine and Karl Urban did a amazing job too. All supporting characters also are portrayed very well. I admit I didn’t care at all for Ben Contaminated as Sarek. He somehow always lookes like he was pouting.

Some of the characters approach with a slightly different flavor. Spock is peaceful a diminutive green leisurely the ears (pun intended!) . Kirk is over the edge rebellious, constantly hanging over a cliff with a bloody nose, and doesn’t reveal any interest of classic literature as of yet . But all that makes sense, its an age thing.

The only really regrettable twist concerns Amanda. Her character hardly gets any attention and than gets killed of. Along with the whole planet Vulcan at that. That is really hard to stomach, I am unexcited chewing on that one.

And composed this movie feels so Capable! It’s hard to elaborate, but I give it a try.

Every once in a while along comes a display or anecdote that simply is somehow…magic. That has the stuff fairy tales are made of. That has something that resonates with a primal popular core deep inside. Magic is not unprejudiced a thing of the distant past; they unexcited get that stuff. Really! Simply by following veteran, time proven recipes.

Walt Disney, for example, knows a thing or two about magic. Cinderella will never go out of style!

Star Journey TOS has that magic. This is why it survived early cancellation in the unhurried sixties. Not only survived, but from there it kept thriving. Despite the painfully cheesy rude budget production and reluctant studio bosses who did their best to cleave creativity for ratings. Despite the ‘Mary Sues’ in ridiculously short mini skirts, and abominable special effects. Maybe Star Hotfoot TOS survived and thrived not despite but because it was cancelled, who knows?

Don’t occupy me faulty, many of the episodes own big drama, superior conflict with plenty of notion provoking messages. Reflecting on the war in Vietnam Rodenberry’s Starfleet stands for a military force as it should be, using weapons only as a last option, strictly adhering to the prime directive of non interference but composed somehow finding ways to stand its ground. What is not to like?

But the main reason for Star Amble TOS’s grand success is the character constellation and the chemistry between them. Because they all indicate archaic, well known stereotypes.

The Kirk, Spock and McCoy troika forms the core. Spock, grand to the mere humans around him, standing for knowledge, science, reason and control, McCoy for expressing and dealing with lower emotions like horror and doubt, but also deep care and nurture as a healer or doctor. The love/hate relationship between those two provides gigantic drama and charming humor. Kirk consults with these two opposites, puts it all together, adds human instincts, intuition and leadership. Now Enterprise is ready to recall action.

This position of 3 is supported by a framework made of the 4 remaining personalities on the Enterprise bridge, each presenting a different corner and culture of the globe. Uhura from Africa the South, soft spoken and exotic. Scott from Scotland in the North, crafty and energetic. Sulu from Japan in the West, still with a zen like smile. And Chekov from Russia in the East, the youngest in the lot, interested to please, calm an ensign and somewhat crude in the food chain, so he doesn’t post any threat to the sixties frigid war audience.

They all line up like ducks in a row or the seven chakras. The Enterprise is the smart considerable vehicle that holds all the pieces of the puzzle together.

Put it all on a fresh and spellbinding stage, a promising, clear future, and success is almost inevitable. But if you catch away a fragment of the puzzle, or the Enterprise, or change the pattern somehow, things come by out of balance. This is why things went downhill with all the glide offs. Over time, Star Hurry slowly but surely disintegrated.

So cliche, some complain. But that doesn’t always has to be a flaw, Here it is a thing of beauty.

The TOS thought is so simple and delicate, is so immensely satisfying. This is why so many people are fascinated by the Star Glide phenomena. It strikes an frail cord, it resonates with us.

Now, JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, effect the pieces encourage together, and Star Wobble as we know and esteem it is abet. They captured the essence and seize us to the very beginning of the Enterprise saga and its novel crew, and despite all this fresh background noise (state holes, ADHD and all, sight above) the yarn composed flows seamlessly, smooth feels legal. Again. All hands attend on deck, everybody is encourage on state. The spirit of Star Hasten is succor. For that I am eternally grateful!!!

If cutting edge special effects and an action filled situation with with lots of humor back drawing wider attention and rep more people on board, well, that’s even for the better!

Lets hope that in future sequels our friends pause together and are allowed to do some growing up from here, getting a small more reflective and wiser on the diagram, taking us along for the wander. And that the spirit of Star Go doesn’t secure watered down to oblivion again. And I hope and pray that our unusual alternate universe doesn’t advance with Borgs!!! ;-)

To cite Nimoy’s Spock: “Have faith that the universe unfolds the method it should” (Star Slide VI) . And: “Go with what feels just” (Star Stir 2009)

Well, that is the device I feel!

Please excuse my english, I am not from your world, ummh continent ;-)

Well… I’ll retain this short and concise.

This is terrific film where everything is simply great: screenplay, dialogs, casting, direction, special effects, cinematography, music, action sequences, jokes, performances, direction, etc, etc, etc… I simply cannot obtain a flaw in this film that is worth noting.

More than a Summer blockbuster, STAR Traipse is a quality blockbuster made with lots of care and adore.

Some die hard fans were hastily to trace all the divergences from the recent source. But, hey… this is NOT the fresh thing. It is reinvention that manages to support all the fundamental elements that work while giving itself the freedom to breath some unusual ideas that ALSO work. So in my notion, this film has lots of respect for all the audiences that are targeted here: primitive fans and novel ones.

Basically, the film tells the account of how all the Enterprise crew members met (Kirk, Spock, Uhura, McCoy, Scottie, Sulu and Chekov) upon the backdrop of two main sage drives: personal (how the clashes between Kirk and Spock shaped their friendship) and set (they must prevent a excited Romulan who came from the future from destroying the Earth) . Obviously, the genuine tale has many twists that I do not want to spoil…

So I deem this is a fair film that deserves to be seen. One last note: all the actors are aesthetic. In fact, this is one of those projects where everybody seems to be loving what they’re doing.

Favorite lines:

KIRK “You know, traveling through time, changing history… that’s cheating.”

SPOCK “A trick I learned from an worn friend.”

—–

SAREK “Negate your mind, Spock.”

SPOCK “That would be unwise.”

SAREK “What is valuable is never unwise.”

—–

SPOCK “I am now a member of an endangered species.”

One last note: this film should be seen in blu-ray… because the visuals are a wow!

Recommended long, and prosper!

A few years ago I started watching IDOJ for the first time since I was a kid on cable TV reruns. As an adult, I was able to peruse many things that simply went over my head as a child. This was actually quite an edgy expose by mid 1960′s standards. Oh how I wished this note would be released on DVD, and lo and examine it my wish was granted!

Buy,Download, Or Stream I Dream of Jeannie: The Complete First Season! Click Here

(And, I bought the B&W version because I prize historical accuracy. I want to ogle exactly what was shown on TV relieve then, without the lousy TV’s we had succor then.)

You’ve got a blond bombshell, who is enthusiastic to please in every blueprint a man could imagine, living out of wedlock with an astronaut, who represented the most fearless all-american roll models we had support in the 1960′s. And somehow, for years, this display provided proper orderly TV fun for millions of viewers.

Buy,Download, Or Stream I Dream of Jeannie: The Complete First Season! Click Here

Part of why it worked I declare is that Jeannie really wanted to marry Tony, and slowly but surely she broke down his choose not to marry her until toward the raze of the series, when they actually do gain married. The meta-narrative of the prove is that

Jeannie got her wish. (Oh yeah, and she slept in her bottle until she did!)

Is IDOJ really a “knockoff” of Bewitched? Yes and no. I rather consider of IDOJ as an improvement.

For example, the last scene in the pilot has Tony walking into his bedroom and closing the door, Jeannie turning to smoke and entering his bedroom under the door, Tony yelling “Knock it off!!” or something like that, and Jeannie coming attend out from under the door and reappearing with a wink to the camera. It’s all left to the imagination what happened in there and it’s comic!

And that’s where IDOJ is very different from Bewitched. In IDOJ, the hottie with the supernatural powers gets to be sexual, whereas in Bewitched she does not.

In Bewitched, Samantha is the sane one with a world of lunacy around her in which she tries to have order and survive the crisis of the week. She is usually uptight and in crisis mode and after a while I unbiased originate to wonder what she ever saw in Darrin in the first location. Also, this formula gets repetitve. I doubt that I’ll ever order the Bewitched series for that very reason: it’s mighty the same epic every week.

In IDOJ, Tony is the sane one in a world of lunatics, and Jeannie is often fragment of the chaos. Jeannie gets to be dazzling, sexual, vivid, mischevious, and most importantly, unpredictable. Will she be share of the predicament or the solution this week? Or, will she try to be portion of the solution and instead bring on more chaos? You really don’t know whats coming.

Also, I really bask in the work that went into some of the props and stunts that often only provided a gag lasting a few seconds. In particular when Jeannie makes herself petite and has to veil in items like coffee cups, pencil holders, and things like that. Those kind of scenes remove a lot of work to position up. There’s some apt special effects work in this series beyond objective objects dissappearing and reappearing.

Oh, and one more thing. The DVDs are single sided!! I can actually eye at them and discover what disc I’m holding! I can handle them without going into “brain surgeon” mode in order to avoid damaging them! They actually did the packaging correctly! WOW!

So, here you’ve got a properly packaged example of the best that 1960′s sitcoms had to offer, and for under $30. Discontinuance wishing and inaugurate buying!

Postscript: My one dissappointment with this DVD area is the commentary on the pilot episode. I expected gigantic things since the commentators would be the main three actors in the cast, but it’s like they didn’t understand the purpose of a commentary or didn’t prepare. Don’t put a question to a lot of additional insights into the series. I tried to peek this with my wife and got so embarrassed for them that we turned it off and unprejudiced watched the pilot episode without the commentary.

Yay!

IDOJ is finally getting the magic treatment it deserves, the prove will be released in both B&W and color, although only season one was filmed in sunless and white. Also be on the glance out for the IDOJ movie starring Jessica alba as Jeannie, Jimmy Fallon as Major Nelson, no word on who will play Dr.Bellows or my celebrated character on the present Major Roger Healy.

HERE IS A SUMMARY OF THE SHOW’S FIRST SEASON…

Seriously, this film is a masterpiece. A jury has to resolve a seemingly start and shut case of a young man (who, as with most of the jurors, remains nameless throughout the film) who has been accused of murdering his father in a fit of nettle. The evidence couldn’t be clearer that this guy did it. Slay weapon, motive, eyewitness testimony all in plot.

One juror (Fonda) however, wants to talk the case out. He’s not 100% convinced that the guy is guilty. And so it begins. An emotional roller coaster follows as we learn about the jurors, their reasons for voting as they do and how (or if) they are forced to re-evaluate the evidence.

Part of the charm of this film is it’s starkness. 99% of the film takes status in one room; the jury room, a simple dwelling consisting of slight more than a table, 12 chairs, some windows and a fan.

The best allotment, I beget, is the character development of the jurors. When the movie begins, they are impartial 12 anonymous characters. Even though none of the jurors are named in the movie (two are in the very last scene, after the case is over) by the time the movie is over, you feel as if you know and understand every one of them.

Truly a worthy film and well worth repeated viewings.

Having recently had a jury duty experience that was equally as contentious as the one depicted in “Twelve Wrathful Men,” I found this film enchanting, and one that maintains its interest because of the taut, well written script (by Reginald Rose, based on his play for TV), and some of the finest character actors of mid-20th century cinema, and though Henry Fonda was a substantial star when this was made in 1957, he blends in to be share of what is essentially an ensemble acting fraction.

Practically the entire film is space in the single jury room, on a hot and humid day, with these twelve incredibly diverse men, and shows how their backgrounds color how they come at their conclusions. Truth is very elusive in this case, and it’s a matter of questioning if there is “reasonable doubt.”

There are many things that point out how times have changed in 50 years; it has been decades since a jury would be chosen that would only consist of white men, and a few years since a table chubby of ashtrays with cigarette butts would be allowed, but the basic truths remain the same, and if one places twelve strangers to arrive to a verdict in a difficult case, tempers are going to flare. The hot head in this film is Juror # 3, Lee J. Cobb, who sees the events through the lens of his relationship with his son, and he gives a fiery performance, but each actor has a lot to contribute to the success of this film.

This was the first feature film in Sidney Lumet’s long career, and he was nominated for a Best Director Oscar; the film was also nominated for Best Characterize and Best Adapted Screenplay, but lost in all three categories to David Lean’s “Bridge on the River Kwai.” Lumet was to work with Fonda again in ’64 with the riveting icy war thriller (and my current Lumet film) “Fail-Safe,” which also had in its cast Juror # 6, Ed Binns.

Total running time is 96 minutes.

Ai Yori Aoshi has to be one of the best anime series i have ever seen in my lifetime. It’s a fabulous shojo type anime with lots of romance and comedy. If you cherish series such as Fancy Hina, Mahoromatic, Rumbling Hearts, Peach Girl or fair basically any anime with romance and comedy mixed together you’ll definitely would fancy this series. Its objective a aesthetic series with astonishing animation and music. Plus, with this spot you bag all 8 volumes of the series which includes both seasons, the only dilemma about it is that it doesnt approach in a nice box to beget all 8 dvds. But other than that you should definitely check out this series.

Ai Yori Aoshi and Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi are some of the better offerings from Pioneer/Geneon and is worth picking up if you happen to score it available. The series closely follows the manga by Kou Fumizuki, though the tale and art are slightly simplified for the video. The manga and anime have been wrong as shojo (manga or anime for girls) but the novel narrative was published in Young Animal, a Japanese magazine for teenage boys. It would be more upright to bill this series as a realistic harem series as opposed to the fantastical harem stories like Tenchi Muyo or Care For Hina. The legend centers around Kaoru Hanabishi, a college student, who is struggling to beget ends meet after walking away from his location as heir to the Hanabishi marketing empire. One day he meets a dilapidated Japanese girl who seems totally out of region and lost in the fresh world, and he stops to befriend her. She turns out to be Aoi Sakabura, a childhood friend, who was betrothed to Kaoru when they were both young children, and Aoi has accelerate away from her sheltered home to derive Kaoru. As the series progresses, one girl after another joins Kaoru’s circle of friends, each of the girls developing strong feeling for Kaoru and unaware of Kaoru and Aoi’s esteem for each other. There is no magical girls in this series, no giant robots blowing things up, it’s all about the relationships of the characters with each other. And because of this realism, the series can be a exact heartbreaker because, if you read the manga before watching the anime, you realize that all but one of these girls are going to destroy up brokenhearted.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Ai Yori Aoshi + Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi – Complete Set! Click Here

This is an ample series for introducing a girl friend or a wife to anime. Be aware, however, that the series may not appropriate for children. Aoi-chan is nude in the opening sequence, Tina is very fond of grabbing women’s breast, Taeko-chan provides an excess of panty shots and the youngest character in the harem seems to garner the most partially nude scenes. There are a couple episodes towards the waste where Aoi and Kaoru expend the night together and it is suggested that they finally fulfill their fancy for each other, though nothing is shown. Your kids will inspect worse on prime time television. There is nothing outright dirty or pornographic, though you might want to concept the series before airing it for your children to be fine.

Some people might get Aoi-chan’s supposed submissiveness disturbing, but her behavior should be viewed through the lens of Japanese culture. She was raised in fading traditions of old Japan and behaves accordingly, and shows current strength, for a venerable Japanese girl, in defying the wishes of her father and family and pursuing Kaoru even after their engagement was broken. She is a complex character, giving and selfless, while at the same time being a bit childish and selfish in her singleminded pursuit of Kaoru.

Other characters flirt on edge of becoming cliche harem characters, the klutzy maid, the boorish foreigner, the snobbish rich girl, the calm and splendid older woman, the overly affectionate and innocent Junior High student. Each of them net at least share of their back-story told in an episode, and manage to avoid being stereotyped in the demolish. If you don’t mind the fan service, and can bag past Aoi’s housewifeyness, this is a honorable chronicle that you might savor, especially if you are tired of magical girls, beautiful boys and giant transforming robots.

Like most of Pioneer/Geneon’s offerings the extras are rather slim – a couple bonus episodes, creditless openings and closings, and reversible liners with a trifle more risque narrate on one side than another. The anime series left me with one unanswered inquire – the opening sequence of Enishi shows a young woman holding a blue haired infant girl for a brief instance. This woman and baby don’t display up in any of the episodes or in the manga, which makes me wonder what she was doing in the opening of the point to. Perhaps Enishi was intended to be a longer series, like the first record arc, but was shortened for various reasons, after the opening sequence was filmed, and the unused characters were not removed.

A Goofy Movie is one of my top 5 Disney absorbing movies of all time. Hands down. It’s almost never mentioned by uppity film critics, a lot of people that like Disney usually forget it, and it isn’t exactly a masterpiece like Snow White, but it definately holds its enjoy. I watched it relieve when it came out, and I loved it. Remembering this, I saw it sitting on a shelf at the store and decided to give it another shot to ogle if it stood the test of time and my being 20 now. It did. If anything, it only got better. Before The Incredibles, there was another Disney film that brought families stop together. And that, was A Goofy Movie, own it or not. Go ahead and laugh, because I wouldn’t absorb it if someone told me that too. Goofy, bringing families closer together? Blasphemy! But it’s not. Goofy is a big character for this kind of movie about a teenager growing distant from his dad. While it’s a great one for families, it’s even better if you’re a single dad with a son. While I’m a month tedious in saying this, it’s also a very suited Father’s Day movie if you two can sit abet and be pleased “objective” a cartoon.

We originate out with Max, Goofy’s son. He’s dreaming about a girl he has a crush on, Roxanne. It’s ruined before they kiss, when he starts to turn into his dad. Tremendous teeth, feet, hands, ears, everything. He wakes up, and panics once more- he’s overslept and he’s almost slow for a cramped surprise at school. His dad busts in and embarasses him already, showing up with a towel wrapped around his body and one on his head too while Max is getting dressed. Not a advantageous initiate for the last day of school. Max makes it and gets together with PJ and Bobby (a unusual character voiced by Pauly Shore. He acts honest like him too) . They throw together a expansive stage performance where Max imitates Powerline, a pop star in the Goof world, and everyone in the school goes nuts. It comes to a conclude when the valuable interrupts, and the three friends secure into stout anguish. Unfortunately, he calls each of their parents at a terrible time- Pete (PJ’s dad) is giving Goofy a speech about how Max could join a gang or acquire into even worse distress if Goofy doesn’t commence being a tiny harder on him. Goofy takes the call from the vital as a diminutive wake up call, and makes plans to go on a inch to a fishing plot he and his dad went on ages ago. Well, Max had impressed Roxanne with that onstage risk, and they were going to go to an after-grad party together. The trail gets in the intention, and he lies to her, saying he’s going to watch Powerline live since he knows him. Goofy and Max hit the road to what Goofy thinks is a fun fishing whisk and time to bond with his son, but it’s anything but. The two argue, cessation talking to eachother for a period of time, derive into enormous anxiety in the woods and in a river, and more. I’m positive every parent with a teenager can report to most of what goes on here.

Now, even unprejudiced barely out of my teenage years, this movie really hits me. How Max treats his dad from time to time made me resent him, but also made me realize that we’ve all done something like that. Leaving in the middle of what’s supposed to be a fun space because you believe it’s listless…you can sight the harm on Goofy’s face when Max does this. And what makes it afflict the viewer is that it’s Goofy- a character who’s always upbeat and ecstatic. Watching him come by dark actually made me hobble up. What’s worse is when he and Max race into a mishap provocative a waterfall. Eventhough I know how it’s going to extinguish, I wanted Goofy to be alright. Glance? This is unprejudiced an bewitching character. But you come by attatched to him after all he goes through. But now I’m making the movie sound depressing. Aside from a few moments like the ones I’ve mentioned, the movie’s humorous overall, and kids age 11+ will be obvious to salvage a few laughs out of it. Bigfoot discovering disco music has to be one of these things.

The visual quality didn’t glean the best treatment here, but I’m hoping a Platinum Edition is in the works somewhere down the line. There’s considerable grain and smudges one the print, and it looks like a slightly cleaned up vhs version. But the movie was made in the mid-late 90′s, so it composed looks sparkling capable animation-wise. No jagged lines here. And the audio’s nice and loud. The Powerline songs at the beginning and ruin are booming all over the situation. Some sound effects are a tad still, like Goofy and Max conclude at the underwater-themed hotel, but it’s nothing you’ll mind unless you’re listening for things like this.

Here’s the reason it gets four stars instead of five. While I was surprised when I went to the special features menu, and discovered some that were actually honorable, there weren’t enough. I remember seeing some notion designs for Vast Foot and a few other characters arrangement befriend when, and it would’ve been nice to have had them here in some sort of gallery. Also, it would’ve been nice if Disney had given it as equally substantial extras as some other Gold Classic Classic discs. But what’s here’s aloof well-behaved. The first one I have to mention is an entire episode of the classic Disney Afternoon cartoon: Goof Troop. It’s the “Calling All Goofs” episode in which a few of Goofy’s relatives are having a reunion. Because Pete screws up Goofy’s car, he can’t go. So instead, Peg (Pete’s sultry wife) has the reunion at their house. Of course, we all know how Pete is around Goofy. How will he handle more than one at the same time? It’s pure chaos. Unfortunately, the transfer to dvd wasn’t kind to the episode, and there are a lot of visual problems here and there (some images jump around instead of smoothly spirited. Sustain focused on a character when they’re doing something, and you’ll ogle it) . It’s a humorous episode collected, and I was surprised to be laughing at it well over ten years after it first aired. It was nice seeing the whole crew, sans Chainsaw. Next, is the biggest extra of the batch- A Goofy Success Tale, running over 40 minutes. It covers how Goofy became a household name. It goes well into his past, and is a must-see for classic Disney fans and animation fans in general. After this is the embarassing A Goofy Movie dvd Storybook. If you remember those books on tape…with books included of Disney movies from the 90′s, that’s what this is…only you discover it. There’s the option of having it read to you, in which the narrator sounds like he’s talking to kids with ADD. This is actually worth a laugh, if only for what pictures they chose for each page. The first 3 had me holding my sides (go ahead an’ say I’m immature. I don’t care) . What’s almost as terrible is the Disney Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega. It’s Mambo No. 5…but with some changes for a family audience and a Disney theme. What’s somewhat sick is that he goes over pairings for characters. Like Mickey = Minnie, Donald = Daisy. But then he gets to Pluto, who in turn gets Huey, Louie and Dewy. Ghastly. There’s also a lame trivia game and the usual trailer to round things out.

That’s all there is to it. Fetch A Goofy Movie. Don’t even rent it, honest recall it. We’re never going to collect another one like this. Not from Disney anyway at the rate they’re going.

I watched “A Goofy Movie” tonight when I was babysitting. The kids loved it and I enjoyed it too. This movie contains enough of the dinky things to be curious to children of all ages…including teens…like me. I don’t judge I’ve seen a better Disney movie. This one has to be my faveorite. The music was great for people of all ages and I have been searching the internet for the soundtrack. It’s not every day that you recognize a teenager rave about PG movie. Superior Job Disney!
